NONCONTACT CURSOR CONTROL DESIGNED IN UKRAINE

Yuri Boyanzhu, a Ukrainian inventor, developed a new way to control the cursor. A cursor is reported to imitate the movements of a hand if the latter goes stretching over some device equipped with antennae.

The cursor control is effected by changing general capacity of a “ hand-antennae” circuit. The method was dubbed TermenPad by analogy with the electric music instrument TermenVox.

The device is another development stage of the “light pen – mouse – touch pad ” pointing equipment. It may be used both in the keyboard (as a mouse add-on or replacement) and in the mouse (for a rollerless scrolling). It might as well be used in the notebook (in lieu of a joystick or touch pad) or in built-in systems (as an alternative to costly touch- input systems in the information kiosks, ATMs, medical and military equipment).

TermenPad was patented. There’s a working model of the device. The inventor is currently looking for investors, as reported by MEMBRANA.Ru.
