Researchers at the Moscow Institute of Stem-cells have singled out and grown the dormant stem-cells, according to reports spread by RosbiznesKonsalting.

The above cells stay in a state similar to lethargy and don?t divide while in a natural environment. But they can multiply and form any tissue of an organism just like any other type of the stem-cells if they?re subjected to activation.

This property of the stem-cells makes them a potential remedy for treating a number of diseases including Parkinson?s disease, diabetes, stroke and cardiac arrest. But the method of production of embryonic cells that wouldn?t be rejected by the immune system requires a cloning and that?s where the issue gets complicated due to legal and ethical reasons.

The Russian researchers point out that dormant cells can be produced and stored in advance for every patient. The biological raw material suitable for transplantation purposes doesn?t require the use of embryonic material. The cells are reported to have one more advantage. Unlike embryonic cells they don?t trigger the development of germ-tumors.
