The Web contest called ?The stars of AstroRunet and Me? has wrapped up in the Russian Internet. It was hosted by AstroTop-100 site. The site of Izvestia Science won in the nomination for ?the best coverage of astronomy and space in the media.?

The voting on nominations completed on April 10. Two days later the results of the contest were endorsed by AstroTop-100, a project coordinator. A diploma certifying the win was forwarded to the site of Izvestia Science.

The votes were cast via the Internet on our web page. The registered users of the Web project AstroTop-100 and other sites on astronomy and space exploration were the experts who did the voting. A broad range of users who surf the Russian-language astronomy and space Web sites took part in the voting. They?re the regular astronomy geeks, professional astronomers, employees of the Russian rocketry and space industry, students and academics, holders of Master?s and Ph.D?s.

Encouraging the designers of the most successful Russian Web resources on astronomy and space exploration is of the objectives of AstroTop-100. The project holds an open roll-call vote of experts on a number of nominations, they vary a bit annually. It?s based on the last year?s results every year. Nearly a thousand sites on astronomy and space had registered with the AstroTop Web project by the end of the contest. The sites were rated by around 400 users.

241 votes were cast at least for one of the nominations during the contest. 225 votes of that number belong to the registered users of the project; 16 refer to the designers of astronomy and space sites of a rating catalogue including 180 experts among the registered users and 16 web designers authorized to pick the finalists. Between 65 to 206 votes were cast depending on a nomination of the contest.
